SoundCircle treats albums as artefacts, inviting users to explore the cultural and emotional layers behind each release. The platform pairs vinyl-focused editorial content with a tactile, scroll-based interface that mimics crate-digging, complete with curated artist pages. Designed in Webflow, every interaction was considered: from the floating theme toggle and smart cursor, to the responsive design that adapts seamlessly across devices.

Developed as a university project, SoundCircle has evolved into a fully formed concept exploring how music can be experienced beyond streaming. It engages ideas of digital nostalgia, decentralised culture, and participatory media, connecting editorial storytelling with clean, modern design. Outside of a discovery tool, it’s a space for rethinking how we connect with music visually, emotionally and culturally.

SoundCircle
The Brief

Create a digital artefact that responds to a participatory culture or networked media context. The project must demonstrate critical thinking, incorporate academic frameworks, and use interactive design or storytelling to engage a niche audience.

The Solution

SoundCircle emerged from a desire to rethink how we engage with music online. The platform blends a tactile, record-store-inspired interface with long-form editorial content, artist spotlights, and cultural scene breakdowns. Features include horizontally scrolling album cards, an interactive custom cursor, and a floating theme toggle. It reflects ideas of decentralisation, memetic identity, and digital nostalgia — offering both aesthetic depth and cultural insight.
